Back Launch of the organisational assessment of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office

Organisational assessment of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine (PGO) was launched in December 2018 with the Council of Europe support. This comprehensive exercise will lay foundations for the enhancement of the organisational and operational effectiveness of the PGO and implementation of the best international practices into its activities.

During the next months the leading experts in organisational consultancy of the international PricewaterhouseCoopers company engaged under the Council of Europe project “Continued Support to the Criminal Justice Reform in Ukraine” will analyse the managerial strategies and working processes, as well as institutional set-up of the prosecutorial head office and prepare a practical plan for the implementation of the recommendations.

Mr Mårten Ehnberg, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine, described the context of the exercise in the light of Ukraine’s commitments before the Council of Europe, long-standing cooperation between the Organisation and its Member State as well as the priorities of the Action Plan 2018-2021. Mr Ehnberg underlined the importance of the cooperation from the PGO part for the success of the exercise. 

Prosecutor General of Ukraine Mr Yuriy Lutsenko reiterated the readiness for the assessment and implementation of its results and emphasised the significance of this exercise for the full-fledged reform of the institution.
