Back Human Rights Legal Clinic launched in Sarajevo

Following the opening of the Human Rights Legal Clinic for students in Mostar for the Law Faculties of University of Mostar and Džemal Bijedić, the Council of Europe continues to support human rights education for law students. On 25 October 2019 a new legal clinic was launched at the law faculty of University of Sarajevo.  “We believe that students will benefit greatly from distinguished Council of Europe lecturers and that they will significantly enhance the knowledge and application of the European Convention on Human Rights”, stated during the opening event Ms Loreta Vioiu, Deputy Head of the Council of Europe Office in Sarajevo.

“The Clinic is planned as an extracurricular activity, and it will build upon the theoretical knowledge obtained by students during their classes. A significant experience for our students will be the moot court exercise, which will be carried out with the assistance of professors, certified lecturers for human rights of the Council of Europe,” stated Dean Prof. Dr. Hajrija Sijerčić-Čolić.

The Human Rights Clinic is supported under the project “Initiative for Legal Certainty and Efficient Judiciary in Bosnia and Herzegovina” funded by the the Kingdom of Norway. The Clinic will take place during the winter semester in the 2019/2020 academic year and is planned to be attended by 25 students.
