Experience sharing on small claim procedures for the Greek judiciary

On 21 March, the Council of Europe TJENI project held an insightful workshop on small claims procedures  in the context of digital transformation with the objectives to expedite and modernise the Greek judicial system.

The Deputy Minister of Justice, Mr Ioannis Bougas, provided a welcoming address at the event

The workshop served as a platform for experts and the Hellenic judiciary to exchange best practices related to small claim procedures from Austria, Cyprus, Poland, Portugal, Romania, England and Wales. These procedures in domestic judicial systems can contribute to better access to justice, simplifying processes, reducing costs, expediting resolutions, minimising formalities, encouraging self-representation and promoting public accessibility of information all while requiring special attention from the point of view of the fair trial guarantees set in Article 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights.

The project “Foster Transparency of Judicial Decisions and Enhancing the National Implementation of the ECHR” is implemented by the Council of Europe and funded by the EEA and Norway Grants Fund for Regional Cooperation.
