Back How can we live together and learn from each other?

Three practical activities which actively engage participants into exploring sensible communication to reduce prejudice and encourage tolerance.

Teachers can use these activities with students aged 15-18 to develop awareness of behaviour patterns and stereotypes as well as encourage communicative learning in a social environment. Through role play, simulation games and creative expression students are invited to reflect on their own communication patterns and how those translate in interaction with others.

The activities can be organised in the classroom to facilitate the development of students’ communication skills, and to promote values such as tolerance and diversity. In turn, this contributes to students being open towards various differences that exist among us. Additionally, the activities build skills in problem solving, active listening, reasoning, debating, discussing, presenting, cooperating and moderating. This training unit has been developed within the Pestalozzi Programme.
