Back Emancipatory education

This unit consists of activities which affirm the importance of personal responsibility and activity in the implementation of democratic societies. The participants are introduced to the basic features of human beings as a species, our uniqueness compared with other species, which demonstrates that we are primarily free and creative beings. They discuss the identification of different forms of discrimination and ways of overcoming them in the situation when teachers are being hired.

Finally, participants are involved in the preparation and presentation of an inquiry into the public sphere in order to become aware of creative and communicative action in solving social problems.

The unit, developed within the Pestalozzi Programme, can be used at initial training of Higher education teachers.
