The first meeting of the Group of Experts on the draft Recommendation of the Committee of Ministers on “Landscape, a Living Environment” was held online on 12 May 2025. Composed of national representatives and independent experts, the Group was welcomed by the Secretariat, which highlighted the relevance and importance of the Reykjavík Declaration and the Council of Europe Strategy on the Environment (2025–2030).

Ms. Nune Petrosyan (Armenia) was elected Chair, and Prof. Ines Hrdalo (Croatia) was appointed lead expert. Participants engaged in a constructive exchange on key concepts, emphasising a dynamic, multidisciplinary and human-centered approach to landscapes. The discussion helped identify the main directions for the Group’s future work.

The Recommendation and its explanatory report are expected to be adopted in early 2026.
