The Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence, also known as “the Istanbul Convention”, requires parties to develop laws, policies and support services to end violence against women and domestic violence.

GREVIO receives the state report for Turkey

The state report from Turkey was received by GREVIO on 3 July 2017, and is published today in accordance with Rule 33, paragraph 6 of GREVIO’s Rules of Procedure.

The Group will consider it together with Turkish representatives at its 12th meeting scheduled to take place from 9 - 13 October 2017 in Strasbourg. GREVIO plans to carry out an evaluation visit to Turkey in November 2017 in order to assess the situation on the ground. The Group will then draw up and adopt its evaluation report in the course of 2018.
