Back A special fund for the integration of refugee children

In 2015, Strasbourg City Council, together with its German partners, embarked upon a cross-border approach, as part of the Strasbourg-Ortenau Eurodistrict. A special fund of €30 000 was set up to promote the integration of refugee children in the Eurodistrict, with the involvement of citizens. The beneficiaries of the Fund are associations and charities on both sides of the Rhine, which offer assistance to refugee children and young refugees.

The funded projects make it possible to:

  • offer language classes for refugee children and teenagers;
  • run art therapy classes for traumatised refugee children and teenagers;
  • provide extracurricular activities for refugee children and adolescents;
  • organise performances for refugee children and adolescents.

Building on the success of the first actions undertaken, the call for projects was renewed in 2017 and 2018 with an increased budget (€50 000).

This project is being implemented by Strasbourg City Council with the network of partner cities of the Club de Strasbourg.
