Network meeting in Paphos District on 12 September 2022

Under the project "Building structures for intercultural integration in Cyprus", the Intercultural Cities project officer and the project's expert consultant from the Spanish Network of Intercultural Cities (RECI) met with each of the five regional intercultural coordinatiors and networks (Famagusta, Nicosia, Paphos, Limassol and Larnaka) in Cyprus (26-30 September 2022). During these meetings the networks discussed the priorities for intercultural integration in their region, following the ICC Index Analysis reports, and possible activities that could be developed.

The five regional coordinators will continue their consultations with municipalities and stakeholders within their regions to further develop their actions plans and strategies and will adopt them at a future network meeting, and then proceed to their implementation. The final action plans will be shared with the Civil Registry and Migration Department of the Ministry of the Interior as a resource for the future national action plan for integration.

Discussions also took place on the future consultation of local and national integration stakeholders on a blueprint for a multilevel coordination mechanism on integration policies for the Republic of Cyprus. These consultations will be based on the study "Elements of multilevel governance of intercultural integration and their applicability to the Republic of Cyprus".

Meetings were also held with the Cyprus Refugee Council, as well as the Cyprus offices of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and International Organisation for Migration for updates on each others activities in Cyprus and to discuss synergies.

This activity was prepared and implemented in the framework of the “Building structures for intercultural integration in Cyprus” project which is being carried out with funding from the European Union, via its Structural Reform Support Programme, and in co-operation with the European Commission's DG for Structural Reform Support.
