COVID-19 Challenges and opportunities for intercultural local authorities, publication of the meeting report

Since the spread of the COVID-19 virus and disease, public authorities worldwide at all government levels are facing a large-scale emergency situation which is new to most of societies today. Local authorities are playing a crucial role to respond to both the immediate threat to health posed by the pandemic, and to the long-term impact of the sanitary emergency measures.

In order to facilitate good practice exchange and long-term strategic planning at local level for a deeper intercultural paradigm shift, the Intercultural Cities (ICC) programme convened its members to an online meeting on 23 April.

The meeting report provides several examples of best practices/measures/initiatives implemented by the local authorities to promote ICC core principles of diversity advantage, equality and positive interaction, and a set of recommended actions for preparing for post-Covid19 recovery.
