The members of the Advisory Group of the Council of Europe’s Intercultural Cities (ICC) Programme met for their 7th meeting in Bergen, Norway, on 28 October 2025.

Participants discussed key themes for the future of the programme:

  • Strengthening political engagement in the ICC Programme, including through stronger involvement of elected representatives and enhanced visibility of the programme at local, regional and national levels;
  • Bridging academia and the ICC Programme, exploring ways to reinforce synergies between academia, ICC experts and practitioners;
  • Brainstorming on the ICC’s upcoming 20th Anniversary (2026–2027), identifying ideas for celebrations, and opportunities to showcase the programme’s impact and achievements.

Further exchanges covered good practices from member cities, improvements to the ICC Index process, feedback on the ICC website to enhance accessibility and ease-of-use and implementation of the ongoing reform of the ICC membership system.

The 8th meeting of the Advisory Group will take place online in the first semester of 2026 with a thematic focus on “Communication of and within the ICC Programme”.
