Council of Europe at webinar on academic freedom

 

On June 17, the Council of Europe contributed to a webinar on the future of value-based higher education and quality assurance, with a focus on the future of academic freedom.

Organized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation/International Quality Group (CHEA/CIQG) and the International Association of Universities (IAU), the webinar attracted more than 160 participants from all continents.

The Head of the Council of Europe’s Education Department, Sjur Bergan, was one of three presenters, with Professor Marcelo Knobel, Rector of the University of Campinas (Brazil) and Dr. Robert Quinn, Executive Director of Scholars at Risk. This webinar is part of the IAU Webinar series on The Future of Higher Education – short, medium and long term perspectives?
