New on-line course on new Civil Procedure Rules in Cyprus

The new on-line self-learning course on the new Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) in Cyprus was presented at the event organized by the Cyprus Judicial Training School and the Council of Europe under the Project on “Supporting the successful implementation of the new Rules of Civil Procedure in Cyprus” which was completed on 30 March 2022.

The online course contains a description of the most important changes in the civil procedure, and some examples from the existing English and Welsh case law corresponding to core Parts of the new Cypriot CPR. The course also contains information on the respective fair trial standards set in Article 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights. The online course is hosted on a dedicated HELP e-learning platform, the Council of Europe platform – an unique resource with on-line training courses for legal professionals.

The course is expected to become a useful tool for all legal professionals, providing access to information about the novelties and philosophy of the new Civil procedure.

The new Rules of Civil Procedure in Cyprus were adopted by the Supreme Court of Cyprus in May 2021 and will enter into force in September 2023.

The Project was funded by the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office of the United Kingdom and implemented by the Council of Europe in collaboration with the Cyprus Judicial Training School and the Cyprus Bar Association.
