The GEC held its 16th meeting (13-15 November 2019) in the presence of prominent persons

The Council of Europe’s Gender Equality Commission (GEC) held its 16th meeting in Strasbourg from 13 to 15 November 2019. During this meeting, there were exchanges of views with Brigitte Grésy, President of the French High Council of Equality between women and men as well as with Valentina Beghini, International Labour Organisation - which adopted a few months ago a convention on harassment and violence in the workplace. Presentations and exchanges also took place with representatives of other sectors of the Organisation on gender equality aspects in their area, such as the Parliamentary Assembly (PACE), the Venice Commission, violence against women (GREVIO and the Committee of the Parties to the Istanbul Convention), Sport (EPAS), the Steering Committee on Media and Information Society (CDMSI), the Cybercrime Convention Committee (T-CY) and the Steering Committee for Human Rights (CDDH). Moreover, the GEC elected its Chair and Vice-Chairs for 2020 and it discussed the draft annual report for 2019 on the implementation of the Gender Equality Strategy, among other items.
