Step up your knowledge of gender equality this International Women’s Day!

On International Women’s Day this year, the Council of Europe is launching a new online training course on gender equality and gender mainstreaming. 


This practical course aims to provide fundamental knowledge of gender equality and gender mainstreaming issues for Council of Europe experts as well as for a broader audience within public and private organisations. The general public (notably students and academics) may also benefit from the course.


The course is is available on the HELP e-learning platform for the time being in English, and the French version will follow soon. It takes approximately 2.5 hours to complete. The course consists of an introductory module and 3 substantive modules:

  • Introductory module:  How equal is the society we live in?
  •  Module 1: Gender equality and gender mainstreaming concepts 
  •  Module 2: International and European standards and policy framework on gender equality
  •     Module 3: Gender mainstreaming in practice with a focus on Council of Europe activities
