Publication on emerging practices for prosecution of digital violence against women is now available in Ukrainian

Digital violence is a new frontier facing women in modern society. While it is closely connected to gender stereotypes and societal misogyny, online technologically facilitated violence against women  presents a significant challenge to women and the exercise of women’s human rights. Despite some developments, this form of violence against women remains poorly understood and recognised, while conceptual and practical challenges still persist among law enforcement and judicial agencies.

The 2024 publication on emerging practices in the investigation and prosecution of digital violence against women provides an outline of the phenomenon of online technologically facilitated violence against women. It explores the concept, the key terminologies and behaviours that amount to digital violence, before addressing core misconceptions and myths. The guidelines also present best practices in the investigation and prosecution of digital violence which can be applied in practice in order to stop digital violence against women.

The publication was translated into Ukrainian under the Council of Europe project “Combating Violence against Women in Ukraine – Phase II” (COVAW-II), and produced under the project “Combating digital and sexual violence against women in Bosnia and Herzegovina”.
