On 3-4 August 2016 the Council of Europe, in co-operation with the Central Election Commission of Georgia (CEC), organised a workshop for the staff of the CEC aiming at enhancing their understanding of the media and communication techniques.
Council of Europe expert Rasťo Kužel led the workshop by sharing international standards and best practices. The staff of the election administration – representatives of the department of public relations, the Center of Electoral Systems Development, Reforms and Training, and the Press-Speaker of the CEC – all actively contributed to the information exchange throughout the session.
The workshop covered issues such as: drafting a press release, tips for effective writing, prioritising – focusing on the main messages, simplicity of the language, press conference, using social media as a tool during elections, dealing with international election observation missions.
