A series of LEAD training workshops was initiated on 9 October in the newly opened Education Centre of the CEC BiH in Sarajevo, held by the European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES) with the support of the Council of Europe,.
During the first training workshop, 22 members and staff of the CEC BiH are jointly learning about modern leadership and professional conflict management in the electoral process, based on the LEAD methodology, which was developed and successfully applied by ECES in more than 75 countries over the world.
The participants are introduced to new concepts of leadership in the context of the election administration and how to handle constructively conflicts rising during the electoral process. In interactive session, they learn how to apply new adult teaching tools and reflect in group exercises their personal strength and skills within a team. Beside the high-quality training input from the ECES trainers, the participants appreciate above all the teambuilding effect of the event. It is the first time that members of CEC participate together with their staff in an internal capacity building activity. They agree that this is an important contribution to build trust and improve communication within the CEC.
After the 5-days Training of Trainers workshop, 6 of the newly accredited CEC LEAD trainers will deliver two consecutive workshops in Sarajevo and Banja Luka to members of Municipal Election Commissions, putting their recently acquired expertise into action.
