Cooperation of the Supreme Election Commission of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara and the Council of Europe

In response to COVID-19 restrictions, the project started adjusting its activities as well as identifying new areas of electoral cooperation and extending a circle of partners.

To that extent the project opened new channels of communication and identified new areas of cooperation with the Supreme Election Commission of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara (the SEC).

To continue sustainable interaction with voters through voter education campaigns and raise awareness towards their active engagement in electoral processes, among other activities, the project will support the SEC in preparing and publishing of a quarterly Electoral Journal.

The Editorial Board of the journal is established, composed of the SEC Chairperson, SEC members, representatives from the Central Election Commission of Georgia, the CoE and academia.

The Editorial Board holds regular meetings via video conferences. The publication will be targeting electoral stakeholders and various groups, among them first-time voters, persons with disabilities, national minorities.

Thematic topics are tailored considering developments in light of upcoming parliamentary elections as well as the local context. European standards and good practices in electoral matters will be introduced to electoral stakeholders through proposing a comparative analysis.

The publication includes special interactive blogs for citizens and local civil society organisations.
