Local election in Bosnia and Herzegovina took place on 2 October 2016. The purpose of the conference is to gather all electoral stakeholders and give them an opportunity to analyse all aspects of the elections, summarise conclusions and discuss further steps for improvement of the election process.

The participants will be the representatives of municipal and city election commissions from 143 municipalities and cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, election experts, both local and internationals, including representatives from the Council of Europe, the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, the OSCE/ODIHR, political parties, international organisations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, local and international NGOs, media and the academic community.

The plenary sessions will discuss the elections, challenges they met and results of their monitoring, as well as the future electoral assistance. They will be followed by thematic workshops, where the participants will discuss and present the conclusions and underline key issues and potential solutions, as well as good practice examples that could be applied in future elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The conclusions of the conference will represent a foundation for recommendations to be included in the Central Election Commission’s annual report to the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
