Albanian Civil Society Organisations trained on the Council of Europe Reference Framework of Competences for Democratic Culture

Two on-line training events on Council of Europe Reference Framework of Competences for Democratic Culture were organised in Tirana on 6 and 7 May 2021 within the framework of the Council of Europe project “Strengthening Democratic Citizenship Education in Albania”.

The training aimed at building the capacity of CSO representatives, school mentors and education experts in developing students’ democratic competences in accordance with the ongoing education reform in Albania and the Council of Europe’s Reference Framework of Competences for Democratic Culture (RFCDC).

26 participants, including the representatives of civil society organisations, school mentors and education professionals, were introduced to the Council of Europe competences for democratic culture (CDC) and how they might be implemented through a whole-school approach.

The training was given by a CoE international lead expert on CDC who provided an in-depth insight into the RFCDC descriptors, portfolio and reflection tool. Approaches supporting the implementation of the RFCDC were presented including participatory methods and strategic communication approaches on how to handle controversial issues and other techniques that enhance well-being and resilience in schools.

The project “Strengthening Democratic Citizenship Education in Albania” is implemented by the Council of Europe and funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency.
