Follow-up to pilot training: Strengthening Capacities for Professionals Working with Children and Adolescents Who Experience War or Conflict Trauma

On 13-14 June, the Directorate of Political Affairs and External Relations of the Council of Europe organised in Warsaw the follow-up to 2022 December event on “Psychological Support to Refugees: Strengthening Capacities for Professionals Working with Children and Adolescents Who Experience War or Conflict Trauma”.  The participants – jointly with experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Finland, and Romania – conducted practical sessions devoted to psychosocial skills and trauma treatment techniques applied by professionals working with children (pre-school, primary school) and adolescents.  The issue of building resilience and strengthening self-care skills of professionals has been also addressed.

The event has been organised with the support of the Council of Europe’s Office in Warsaw and in close cooperation with the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary General (SRSG) on Migration and Refugees and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland.

On 14 June, the Special Representative of the Secretary General (SRSG) on Migration and Refugees, Leyla Kayacik, addressed practitioners participating in the event and representing Office for Foreigners, Police and Border Guards from the Ministry of the Interior of Poland, Ministry of Heath, Ministry of Family and Social Policy and Ministry of Education. Moreover, psychologists from Warsaw Ukrainian School (SzkoUA) took part in this event.
