The Council of Europe is pleased to announce the second ratification of the Protocol amending Convention 108, which provides Convention 108+. Today, 18 December 2019, the ratification instrument was deposited by Ambassador Toma Galli, Permanent Representative of Croatia to the Council of Europe, in presence of the Deputy Secretary General Ms Gabriela Battaini-Dragoni.
During this first year of opening for signatures, a total of 38 signatures have been registered, including those of Argentina, Tunisia and Uruguay.
The entry into force of Convention 108+ is crucial in the digital age and it is therefore expected that many other ratifications in 2020 will enable the rapid entry into force of this modernised landmark instrument.
