Today, on the occasion of a regular visit to the Council of Europe, Jean-Philippe Walter, the Data Protection Commissioner met Bjorn Berge, the Deputy Secretary General.
Personal Data Protection topics are important in Europe and the world, but are also present within our Organisation. Over the past decades, we have been using an increasing number of IT solutions that often raise data protection issues. New rules are being developed on the topic and it is crucial that the Council of Europe, which Convention 108 was pioneer on the right to data protection, has also internally compliant rules and practices.
The administration is working on this important issue, with the support of the Commissioner.
