Council of Europe to participate in Cannes festival panel “Big Data Meets Hollywood - Protecting Privacy and Unlocking Innovation” on 7 July

Data today plays a role in any successful business, studio or film. Responsible and ethical data use can help the creative industries drive great impact - both social and economic - but data needs to be trusted. How can the film industry strike the right balance in responsible data use and insights? And what do professionals need to know about consumer expectations and policy moves that will dictate how they can use data responsibly today and in the future?

Jan Kleijssen, Director, Information Society - Action again Crime will be one of the main/key speakers of the session “Big Data Meets Hollywood - Protecting Privacy and Unlocking Innovation”, organised by Microsoft with Cannes festival and Think Film Impact Production on 7 July.

The panel will examine how data and protecting privacy is critical to industry success, learn about the shifting global power dynamics that are changing the rules, and understand how studios are creatively engaging data across film lifecycles.

Director Jan Kleijssen will give a comprehensive overview of the Council of Europe's work on data regulation, human rights and the Organisation's digital agenda, with an insight into its impact on the global film industry.

Follow live the panel today 7 July from 17.30 to 19.00 (Live stream on YouTube)
