22nd Meeting of the Central and Eastern European Privacy and Data Protection Authorities

The 22nd Meeting of the Central and Eastern European Privacy and Data Protection Authorities took place on 28 February 2024 in Tbilisi, Georgia.

The Council of Europe was invited to deliver a key-note speech in the opening session in which it highlighted the need to recommit to the principles and values of the protection of privacy at global level and to reinforce cooperation in this field. It also participated in a panel on law enforcement and data protection giving a presentation on the relevance of Convention 108+ in the work of law enforcement agencies by highlighting the relevant standards and data transfer mechanisms.

The annual meeting of the Central and Eastern Europe Data Protection Authorities allows DPAs of the region to meet in person, report on the latest developments in their respective authorities and share best practices. The Council of Europe has long supported this regional initiative which gathers regulatory authorities coming from countries party to Convention 108.
