Report on the “Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe and Iberoamerica” presented at the Tourism Fair FITUR 2022 in Madrid

On January 19, the Secretariat of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe Programme was present at the Feria Internacional de Turismo FITUR 2022, held at Ifema, Madrid.

The tourism fair was the occasion to present the Report on the “Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe and Iberoamerica” at the Stand of the Extremadur. The presentation opened with speeches from Dr. Francisco Martín SIMÓN, Director General of Tourism of Junta de Extremadura; Ms. Monica GARCIA, Directorate General of Culture, Organisation of Ibero-American States; Mr. Sergio ORTEGA, Head of Service, Legal Regime and European Programs Area, General Sub directorate for Management and Coordination of Cultural Assets, Ministry of Culture and Sports of Spain and Mr. Stefano DOMINIONI, Executive Secretary, Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe (EPA); Director, European Institute of Cultural Routes (EICR), within the framework of collaboration between the Organisation of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI) and the European Institute of Cultural Routes (EICR). Mr. Quintin CORREAS, Manager of Charles V Route and Mr. Miguel Angel Martin RAMOS, President of Charles V Route also attended.

Mr. Jordi TRESERRAS, independent consultant, University of Barcelona, presented the report "Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe and Ibero-America”, highlighting key subjects as inventory and diagnosis of existing and potential cultural routes in Ibero-America, mapping of key actors of existing and potential cultural routes in Ibero-America, an action plan for Ibero-American cultural routes, and funding proposals for joint activities.

The Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI), started cooperation activities with the European Institute of Cultural Routes in 2018 and was granted participatory status by the Governing Board of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes in 2021.
