The basic collection of the Nelimarkka Museum belongs to the Nelimarkka Foundation founded by Eero Nelimarkka in 1945. The collection mainly includes the production of Eero Nelimarkka from the period 1910–1976, but also contains individual works by other Finnish artists. Since 2015, the Nelimarkka Museum has been managing Villa Väinölä, a villa in the center of Alajärvi designed by Alvar Aalto to be the home and office of his brother Väinö Aalto. Today, exhibitions, events and architectural residency are organized at Villa Väinölä.
