The Menai Suspension Bridge is the first significant modern suspension bridge, designed by Thomas Telford and completed in 1826. The Menai Heritage Bridges Exhibition, based at the Thomas Telford Centre, is dedicated to the two bridges across the Menai Strait. The Menai Bridge Community Heritage Trust (est. 1997) works to preserve the historical and architectural heritage of Menai Bridge for the community and manages the Thomas Telford Centre. The Menai Straits Bridges are an Individual Site of the European Route of Industrial Heritage.
