The Council of Europe through its joint European Union and Council of Europe Project against Economic Crime in Kosovo (PECK III) is supporting the Labour Inspectorate and the Agency for Prevention of Corruption to strengthen the implementation of anti-corruption compliance programme in the private sector.
For this purpose, PECK III organised a two-day Workshop on 10 - 11 October in Prizren with the aim to present to the competent authorities and representatives of private companies a roadmap to prevent corruption by establishing an effective anti-corruption (AC) compliance programme.
The activity brought together 27 participants representing the Agency for Prevention of Corruption, Chamber of Commerce, Labour Inspectorate, private companies and civil society organisations.
Participants were introduced to international standards and good practice in designing AC compliance programs as well as exchanged on the necessary steps and tools for designing and implementing anti-corruption compliance programme.
The need to establish anti-corruption measures with the aim of protecting the reputation and the interests of their investors and shareholders through a holistic approach was emphasised by participants in promoting and fostering a culture of change towards positive ethical conduct not only in the public sector, but also in the way companies do business.
The Council of Europe will provide further support to Kosovo authorities and private sector through a Roadmap and Guidance for introducing anti-corruption compliance within the private sector as a practical tool for companies seeking advice in developing, implementing and continuously improving their anti-corruption ethics and compliance programme.
The activity was organised within the framework of the “Project against Economic Crime in Kosovo” (PECK III), jointly funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
