Workshop on “Typologies of corruption affecting the entrepreneurs at the regional and municipal levels”

On 30 January 2017, the PRECOP II project held the workshop on “Typologies of corruption affecting the entrepreneurs at the regional and municipal levels”. It was the first workshop in a series of events planned under the project.

The workshop brought together representatives of regional Business Ombudsman Offices of four pilot regions and other regions, as wells as representatives of Federal Business Ombudsman Office, executive and legislative bodies, and business associations of the Republic of Karelia.

The event was opened by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Karelia, and welcoming remarks were also delivered by the Business Ombudsman of the Republic of Karelia, Advisor of the Office of the Federal Business Ombudsman, Head of Department for supervision over implementation of anti-corruption legislation of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Karelia, and Head of the Council of Europe Programme Office in the Russian Federation.

The workshop served to present and discuss with all relevant stakeholders main findings and recommendations of the draft Study on typologies of corruption affecting the entrepreneurs at the regional and municipal levels, prepared by the Council of Europe experts. The participants took active part in discussions and provided valuable input and comments, including practical cases, to be incorporated in the study. In addition, the participants were presented with the comparative analysis of corruption typologies affecting business sector in selected Council of Europe member states illustrated with real-life cases.
