Over 35 representatives of the Regional Business Ombudsperson offices and regional or municipal authorities from 6 pilot regions took part in an interactive training on “Good governance practices and measures to prevent corruption in procurement process at municipal level in the Russian Federation”.

The training which took place on 25-26 October 2018 in Irkutsk, Russian Federation, was a combination of presentations, classroom discussions and group work on practical exercises and case studies. These were specifically developed by the project based on the findings of an earlier study conducted in the framework of the project on “The scale, forms and manifestations of corruption in procurement processes at municipal level in the Russian Federation”.

The training provided the participants an opportunity to learn identifying typical corruption schemes and red flags in the procurement process at the municipal level, as well as to obtain relevant knowledge and skills related to efficient measures for prevention of corruption based on international good practices.

This was the first activity in a series of trainings aimed at enhancing capacities of municipal authorities dealing with procurement in line with applicable international standards and good practices. The training manual developed specifically for this activity will be further updated based on the participants’ feedback.
