Within the framework of the Action against Economic Crime in Montenegro a roundtable discussion on strengthening the current Law on International Restrictive Measures took place on 29-30 January 2018. Two Council of Europe experts supported the Working Group on the Revision of the Law on International Restrictive Measures, by providing a thorough assessment of the alignment of the current Law with European and International standards.

¨

The Working group, led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and comprised of 20 representatives of 15 relevant institutions, was working on proposals of amendmens to the Law that would strengthen the system of prevention of terrorism financing in Montenegro and make the system of the targeted financial sanctions against terrorists and terrorist organizations more efficient. Following the roundtable discussion the working group will develop ammendments to the law by addressing weaknesses identified in the roundtable and taking into account the advise of CoE experts.
