A Council of Europe team visited Amman on 6-7 November 2018 to provide support to Jordanian authorities in strengthening the regulatory framework for asset declarations. The Project team met the key stakeholders including the Jordanian Anti-Corruption and Integrity Commission, the Legislation and Opinion Bureau and the Financial Disclosure Department of the Ministry of Justice. The discussions enabled an international Council of Europe consultant to gather information on the Jordanian legal and organisational framework governing asset declarations and conflicts of interest, including the Illicit Enrichment Law (Law No. 21 of 2014). The findings of this mission will feed into the review of the Jordanian legislation vis-à-vis European good practices and the development of guidelines on the verification of asset and conflicts of interest declarations.
