On 15-16 March 2018, sixty-five (65) representatives of the police Department for economic crime, Department for fight against organized crime and corruption, Special Police Unit, police duty stations from every city in Montenegro, and civil servants from different state agencies received training on handling and protecting individuals who confidentially report criminal activities (whistleblowers). The training specifically focused on sensitive aspects of managing whistleblowers, such as establishing and maintain contact with whistleblowers, processing incident reports, ensuring anonymity and protection from retaliation. Training participants were also provided with the Guidelines for Civil Servants and Police Officers on Receiving and Processing Whistleblower Reports produced under the HF-AEC-MNE Project, which should support them in future interactions with whistleblowers. The two events were the least in the series of efforts aimed at facilitating the implementation of the new Whistleblower Protection Law in Montenegro implemented under the HF-AEC-MNE Project.
