The Closing Conference of the CoE/EU Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Turkey, will take place on 3 April 2019 in Tirana, Albania. Representatives of beneficiary institutions including policy makers, law enforcement authorities, and the justice sector officials from Albania, Montenegro and North Macedonia will take part in the event, which will provide an venue to take stock of efforts taken and results reached through the Action against Economic Crime Programme in the last three years.

The participants in the Closing Conference will:

• Present the results of efforts taken in the last three years in the areas of fight against corruption and money laundering/terrorist financing, focusing on concrete impact for beneficiaries and sustainability of its outcomes.
•  Demonstrate the contribution of the Action to advancing reforms in beneficiary countries, bringing them in line with CoE standards and furthering the EU enlargement process where relevant.
• Exchange good practices at the regional level with regard to common challengers faced.
• Identify lessons learned and remaining challenges that need to be addressed through future efforts under the next phase of the Horizontal Facility.

The next phase of the joint EU/CoE Horizontal Facility Programme and its Action against Economic Crime is expected to start at the end of May 2019.
