A Training on monitoring election campaign finances in Albania for NGOs was jointly organized between the European Union and Council of Europe Horizontal Facility Project “Action against Economic Crime in Albania” the Central Election Commission and the Academy of Political Studies in Albania.

The aim of this activity was to provide the tools and methodology to NGOs to monitor the election campaign finances and raise their capacities in detecting and reporting irregularities in particular those related to donations, expenditures and misuse of state resources for electoral purposes.

The Training program included case studies and case scenarios for categories of funding based on the reporting template recently developed by the Project in cooperation with the National Democratic Institute of Albania.

The training program represents one of the measures targeted at building the capacities of NGOs monitoring election campaign funding and holding political parties accountable.

Through this activity it is expected that NGOs will support the relevant structure within the Central Election Commission to efficiently monitor election campaign financing and detect violations of the Electoral Code.
