Third edition: Combatting Sexism in Elections (VIDEO)

The Council of Europe Office in Chisinau has released a new awareness-raising video as part of its ongoing campaign to combat hate speech and sexism in elections. The initiative, launched in 2023, replicated in 2024 continues in 2025 under the slogan: “Do not tolerate sexist speech. Report it!”

The campaign aims to promote zero tolerance for gender-based discrimination and sexist rhetoric among various stakeholders, electoral candidates and officials, media professionals, and voters, particularly in the context of the upcoming Parliamentary elections scheduled for 28 September 2025 in the Republic of Moldova. The campaign contributes to ongoing efforts in fostering a more inclusive and respectful democratic environment.

The video is available in Romanian and Russian, with subtitles and sign language interpretation to ensure accessibility for all audiences. It has been officially approved as a message of public interest by the Central Electoral Commission.

The video was produced within the framework of the Project “Improving Electoral Practice in the Republic of Moldova (IEPRM) 2025–2028”, implemented under the Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova 2025–2028.
