In 2025, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova celebrates its 30th anniversary. To mark this important milestone, the Council of Europe joined the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova in organising a high-level international conference in Chisinau on 23 May 20205.
The conference brought together Moldovan high-level officials and key stakeholders as well as representatives of Constitutional Courts of Austria, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Ukraine, Estonia and Czech Republic, the Venice Commission, the Court of Justice of the European Union, the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the OSCE.
The event was structured in two sections of presentations and comparative discussions, which addressed the pressing issues facing European constitutional courts and the obstacles they encounter in fulfilling their role, many of which are rooted in political, legal, and social dynamics.
