Organisation of a workshop to improve the judicial training data collection as a part of the Dashboard Western Balkans

During a workshop organised on 23 September 2022 in Dürres (Albania), the CEPEJ correspondents for the Dashboard Western Balkans and the representatives of the judicial training institutions of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*, North Macedonia and Serbia shared experiences and good practices in the judicial training data collection.

The functioning of the training institutions has been presented by their representatives who have also discussed the challenges they face when calculating the in-service training volume and the training institution budget.

The participants have also recalled how the evaluation of the training courses is carried out and how they monitor the training needs of judges and prosecutors.

With the support of CEPEJ experts, this workshop has allowed to propose solutions to improve the part of the CEPEJ – DWB questionnaire dedicated to the judicial training. This will, in turn, allow to reach a higher response rate and collect data that will be comparable among the beneficiaries.

This activity was part of the "Dashboard Western Balkans" Action, which is part of the second phase of the "Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye" programme, co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.

* This designation is without prejudice to positions on status, and is in line with UNSCR 1244 and the ICJ Opinion on the Kosovo Declaration of Independence.
