The Committee of Experts on Criminal Asset Recovery (PC-RAC) held its fifth meeting from 21 to 23 May 2025 in Strasbourg, under the chairmanship of Mr Cornel-Virgiliu Calinescu (Romania).
During the three-day session, the Committee continued its examination of the Additional Protocol to the Council of Europe Convention on Laundering, Search, Seizure and Confiscation of the Proceeds from Crime and on the Financing of Terrorism (CETS No. 198). Building upon the discussions held during its previous meeting in March, the experts participated in in-depth exchanges aimed at reaching a commonly accepted text of the draft Protocol. Special attention was paid to key areas including various forms of confiscation, financial investigations, international cooperation, and the functions of asset recovery and asset management offices. The Committee also discussed legal safeguards and the protection of human rights within the framework of the Protocol.
The next meeting is scheduled to take place in Strasbourg in the first week of October.
