Thomas Schneider, former Vice-Chair of the Committee on Artificial Intelligence (CAI), at the India AI Impact Summit

Thomas Schneider, Vice-Chair of the Council of Europe’s Committee on Artificial Intelligence (CAI), participated in the India AI Impact Summit, sharing insights on AI governance and international collaboration.

He was, inter alia, part of the opening panel of the official satellite event, “Reinforcement and Learning: Multistakeholder Convening on AI Governance,” where he highlighted the crucial role of multistakeholder inclusion in the Council of Europe’s AI work and emphasized the global significance of the AI Framework Convention. Organised by the Global Network Initiative and the Centre for Communication Governance, the event aimed to strengthen civil society participation and foster meaningful dialogue on AI governance.

Thomas Schneider also spoke at the second event, “Policies for Social and Economic Resilience in the AI Age: Global South Perspectives.” The discussion focused on how the Global South can build institutional capacity and shape inclusive economic systems, ensuring that AI-driven technological change supports shared prosperity.

In addition to the main sessions, Mr Schneider held several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit, further promoting Council of Europe AI Framework Convention, international dialogue and cooperation on AI.
