On 17-19 November 2026, the Centre of Expertise for Multilevel Governance of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, in collaboration with the Digital Development Unit (DGI) will organise the first HUDERIA Academy for local authorities. The Academy will be preceded by a half-day conference on emerging uses of AI at local levels.

The objectives of the Conference and HUDERIA Local Academy are to:

  • Identify and highlight needs and opportunities for future support to local and regional authorities in deploying AI systems in line with European standards
  • Test the application of the HUDERIA methodology on a high-priority local level use case for an artificial intelligence system, and generate lessons for the customisation and use of HUDERIA by local authorities
  • Develop a group of 30-40 local authority specialists to lead on policy and practice for responsible implementation of AI within their administrations
