North-South Process for the Empowerment of Women

The Women programme of the North South Centre is born from an intercultural and democratic process. In 2011, the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe launched "The North South Process for the Empowerment of Women" (NSPEW), a project for the practical implementation of the recommendations adopted at the International Conference organised by the NSC in partnership with Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on "Women as agent of change in the Southern Mediterranean Region" (Rome, 24th-25th October 2011) that gathered more than 250 representatives of the quadrilogue from more than 50 countries.

The project NSPEW provided a strategic framework to the NSC's work on women's rights made since 1994.
The NSPEW integrated the recommendations adopted in the conference of Rome as expected outputs to be implemented in the framework of an action plan (2012-2014).
