As an enlarged partial agreement of the Council of Europe, the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe brings together countries from Europe, the Middle East and Africa to exchange ideas and take action on shared issues. The North-South Centre currently counts on twenty-one member states and two associate members.

The Member States : 

Contribute to the design of the North-South Centre’s priorities to convey and share the Council of Europe’s message, standards, and instruments beyond the European continent; 

 Participate in a platform that facilitates political dialogue with countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, among other regions; 

 Contribute to the definition of technical cooperation priorities with partners in the Middle East and Africa; 

 Take part in decisions concerning the implementation of the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe’s programmes; 

 Benefit from opportunities addressed to national officials, experts, and youth representatives who are supported to take part in the activities of the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe. 

 Host activities of the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe.

In addition to the status of member state, the NSC offers interested countries the opportunity to participate in its work as associate member for two-year period, with the opportunity to transition to full membership thereafter.
