Quality Assurance in higher education in Armenia
Yerevan, 4-5 June 2007

The seminar on ‘Quality Assurance in higher education in Armenia’, co-organised by the Ministry of Education and Science of Armenia and the Council of Europe, took place in Yerevan on 4-5 June 2007. It was attended by some 40 participants (representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Armenia and higher education community).

The objective of the seminar was to:

    o Take stock of the progress achieved in Armenia in ensuring quality in higher education;

    o Provide expert assistance for further development of quality assurance system in Armenian higher education;

The seminar provided a clear overview of European developments in quality assurance in higher education as well as a welcome opportunity for Armenian public authorities and higher education community to consider the development of quality assurance at Armenian institutions.

Stock-taking demonstrated that Armenian national authorities have taken important steps towards building up national higher education quality assurance system. Notably, Armenia is currently in the process of setting up a national quality assurance agency.

Building on European experiences, the seminar helped to identify key strategies in building effective and efficient quality assurance system in Armenian higher education.
