13 applications for the Second Session of the Landscape Award of the Council of Europe were submitted to the Council of Europe Secretariat through the Permanent Representations of the following Parties to the Convention: Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, the United Kingdom. As a Signatory State, Serbia submitted an application.
The Jury of the Award will meet in March 2011 and its proposal will be presented to the Committee of Ministers through the Steering Committee for Cultural Heritage and Landscape (CDPATEP). The Award and the special mentions were officially presented by the representative of the Council of Europe Secretary General on the occasion of the 10th Meeting of the Council of Europe Workshops for the implementation of the European Landscape Convention (Evora, 20-21 October 2011).
The Joint Committee of the Municipality of Carbonia (Italy) "The Carbonia project : the landscape machine" has received the Council of Europe Landscape Award. In the framework of the Landscape Convention, three special mentions go to the Ekopolis Foundation (Slovakia) "The grant programmes for local communities to shape their surroundings into a place where they are happy to live", the Generalitat of Catalonia and Landscape Observatory of Catalonia (Spain) "The project of education and awareness raising : city, territory, landscape" and the Durham Heritage Coast Partnership (United Kingdom).
