The exhibition by the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission), entitled “The Rule of Law: A User Guide”, was presented in its Arabic version at the Rector’s Office of the University of Tetouan on 29 June 2026, as part of an international Symposium “Constitutional Courts: Legal Bridges and Dynamics of Dialogue”, co-organised by the Faculty of Legal, Economic and Social Sciences of Abdelmalek Essaâdi University and the Venice Commission.
This is the first time the exhibition has left Europe to travel to another continent, setting up in Morocco, member of the Venice Commission since 2007. This travelling exhibition will then be presented during the summer schools organised in the city of Tetouan, followed by a display at the Faculty of Legal, Economic and Social Sciences of Abdelmalek Essaâdi University, before moving on to Rabat, where it may also be exhibited at various legal institutions in the capital.
The aim of the exhibition is to present the principles of the Rule of Law in a clear, engaging and accessible manner. Through the original illustrations by Ms Nadine Theuma, a Maltese artist and illustrator, students and visitors will discover the key concepts of the Rule of Law from a fresh and creative perspective. This initiative not only pays tribute to the work and legacy of the Venice Commission but also promotes a better understanding of the Rule of Law as a cornerstone of democratic societies.
The Venice Commission’s list of criteria relating to the rule of law has also been translated into Arabic and distributed at the aforementioned event.
