New HELP online module on child safeguarding in sports

The Council of Europe has launched a new online module on child safeguarding in sports, developed by the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport in the framework of the “Start to Talk” project and published under the Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) Programme.

This innovative module forms part of the HELP course on Human Rights in Sports, and aims to strengthen the capacity of legal professionals and sport stakeholders to prevent and respond to violence, abuse and exploitation of children in sport, in line with Council of Europe standards on human rights and the protection of children. The module can be taken independently of the course.

The module was developed with the expert support of Dr Melanie Lang, from Edge Hill University, and reflects a multidisciplinary approach combining legal frameworks with practical tools for implementation.

The development of the module was made possible thanks to the financial support of the Principality of Monaco.

The course is part of the Council of Europe’s broader efforts to promote safe, inclusive and rights-based sport environments, including through the European Sports Charter and the Organisation’s child protection standards.

The course is available on the HELP e-learning platform here.

The French version will be published shortly.
