The SOGIESC Unit of the Council of Europe has partnered with the Italian Chief Prosecutor’s Office in Rome to organise three online awareness-raising sessions on anti-discrimination for Italian prosecutors and police forces. These sessions are based on the recently updated HELP (Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals) course on anti-discrimination, now also available in Italian.
On the 14, 16 and 21 October, 30 participants, of which 4 prosecutors, 25 police officers, and 1 civil society representative, will join forces on the fight against discrimination in Italy. Through the four topical modules of the course and with the benefit of testimonies from guest speakers, they will delve into anti-discrimination standards in Europe, discrimination based on SOGIESC, as well as intersectional discrimination.
The three live sessions will be followed by a self-learning period, in order to better integrate the new knowledge and skills as well as the discussion with other peers.
This collaboration is part of the EU/CoE joint project “Combating Anti-LGBTIQ Violence and Hate Speech, and Strengthening Awareness and Fact-based Narratives about LGBTIQ People.”
